cat about.txtProbably a person (at least under Lebesgue). I occasionally (two or three times a week, at most) do machine learning. I am currently employed on a very cool grant at the University of Lodz (microwave spectroscopy for medical diagnosis, mainly heart failure, though I am on a constant sidequest to branch out; recently, inflamed appendices ex vivo) and at a very cool cybersec + ml startup (striga.ai). In both of those places I am ‘the ml guy’, which means that I (try to) make magic black boxes spit out correct answers, or think very hard about what ‘correct’ even means. I also moonlight as a stats guy for some clinician colleagues and friends, a rather poor philosophy-of-ml guy and a mediocre writer. I sincerely think that I (and you too, dear Reader!) don’t really matter in the grand, the small or any other scheme of things, so I usually focus on things that do matter: my spouse, my family and friends (one and the same, really), and trying to be a somewhat passable person. Of those I am the most proud. If you stumbled in here in any sort of professional capacity, you should probably head for my cv; everything on this site is somewhat personal, even if I do host some of my papers and work here.
